The Senate rejected the Udall amendment which would have stripped the detainee provisions entirely as well as an amendment proposed by Sen. Feinstein that would have stated the law did not authorize the military to detain American citizens. The Senate then went on to pass the bill 93-7. There's a bill in the Senate that would authorize the military to arrest and detain any civilian, anywhere in the world, indefinitely without charges. That includes American citizens on American soil.
